We approach tango instruction by focusing on the fundamental principles of connection, structure, and expression. Since the connection between partners is one of the most desirable elements of the dance, we teach you how to be aware of, and how to understand your partner's physical presence. CONNECTION, or the act of physically communicating with your partner, is what enables one to truly dance tango. STRUCTURE is the fundamental technique that adds beauty to tango, and is a principle that can be symbolized by the golden rectangle (for all you math fans out there). A design of mathematical beauty utilized by the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, it engenders a feeling of both natural, organic order and structural discipline. Here, you'll learn the basic concepts of leading and following (the organic elements), and how to apply them towards advanced patterns and elements (structural discipline). EXPRESSION is about incorporating the creative, the sensual, and the passionate within this improvisational dance. One of our highest goals is helping you develop this skill while being inspired by the music! We present these 3 principles as tools that allow you the freedom to express yourself and develop your passion for the dance. And as it is with the golden rectangle, the basic, disciplined elements of tango, combined with their purpose of creative expression, leads to the beauty and harmony of two individuals in perfect communication with one another. Not only do we explore creative instructional methods to make tango more meaningful, we also emphasize the most important purpose of the dance: to have fun!
